Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Medicaroid Corporation, and Sysmex Corporation Received the Robotics Society of Japan “13th Robots and Society Award”.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Medicaroid Corporation, and Sysmex Corporation have received the 13th Robots and Society Award from the Robotics Society of Japan for an Automated PCR testing robot system for COVID-19.

The 13th Robots and Society Award is presented to individuals or organizations that proactively engage in activities or disclose knowledge that significantly contributes to the progress of society's transformation through various forms of diffusion and penetration of robots and robotics, toward the realization of a future “society utilizing robots”.

Description of the invention: Automated PCR testing robot system for COVID-19 developed by utilizing robot technology. Up to 2,500 tests can be performed per day, and notification of test results can be performed in a short time. By using robots to automate the pretreatment process for PCR testing, the system improves analytical and sample handling capabilities, and reduces the infection risk and workload for testing staff by decreasing their contact with samples.
