Advancing the Reliability of Test Results Through the Effective Use of International Standards
The quality of clinical laboratory testing is a critical foundation for the safety and reliability of healthcare. However, approaches to performance evaluation and quality management of testing vary across countries and regions, leading to challenges in the comparability of test results and their consistent interpretation. Given these circumstances, there is a growing need in Japan to further align performance evaluation of clinical laboratory testing with international standards.
Sysmex is addressing this challenge by supporting the effective use of international standards in Japan to enhance the global alignment of clinical laboratory testing practices. Specifically, Sysmex has collaborated with the Japanese Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (JCCLS) and the Japan Association of Clinical Reagents Industries (JACRI) to develop validated Japanese-language versions of CLSI (Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute) guidelines. This initiative enables clinical laboratory technicians and R&D engineers to accurately understand and effectively apply international standards in practice.
As a result of these efforts, laboratories in Japan will increasingly implement and apply practices based on international standards, improving the global alignment of their performance evaluation and quality management of clinical laboratory testing. This will help reduce variability between laboratories and enable test results obtained in Japan to be interpreted in accordance with international standards. Physicians and researchers will be able to directly compare data generated in Japan with overseas datasets, contributing to more reliable clinical diagnoses and research decisions. Furthermore, these achievements can be shared globally through the use of high-quality testing technologies developed in Japan, helping to improve healthcare quality worldwide.
Sysmex remains committed to promoting the effective use and implementation of international standards, contributing to improvements in the quality of clinical laboratory testing, and helping build a society where people around the world can access safe, reliable, and high-quality healthcare.
