Sysmex Promotion Code (Overview)

Sysmex Corporation and its group companies in Japan (collectively, “Sysmex”) have formulated their own promotional code, the “Sysmex Promotion Code,” governing product promotion, and hereby declare their commitment to complying with it.

1. Sysmexʼs Responsibilities

Fully recognizing the social mission and importance of its role as a healthcare-related company, Sysmex makes it the fundamental principle of its corporate activities to share values with society, propose new value through its business, and contribute to the realization of healthy and happy lives for people.
In accordance with this fundamental principle, Sysmex shall conduct appropriate promotional activities and establish an internal management system to ensure compliance with this Code.

2. Core Behaviors

Sysmex employees involved in promotional activities shall fully recognize their responsibility, as individuals who play a role in healthcare, to provide medical information on behalf of the Company and in fulfillment of its social mission, and they shall faithfully implement the following principles:

  • Information provided to medical institutions and other relevant parties shall be based on the latest data supported by clear scientific evidence and shall be provided in an appropriate manner.
  • Information provided to medical institutions and other relevant parties shall be sufficiently substantiated and limited to the scope covered by the applicable manufacturing and marketing approval or certification so as not to cause misunderstanding through ambiguous expressions, exaggeration, undue emphasis, or the omission of important information.
  • Medical information shall be collected and communicated accurately and promptly.
  • When visiting medical institutions or other relevant facilities, Sysmex employees shall comply with the rules established by the respective institutions and conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
  • Sysmex employees shall comply with applicable laws, regulations, and voluntary industry codes and standards and shall conduct themselves with good sense as Sysmex employees.
  • Sysmex employees shall respect the principles underlying the National Public Service Ethics Code and other applicable regulations and shall strictly refrain from any conduct that could cause healthcare professionals with whom they interact to be held liable for violating the law.

3. Ensuring Fair Competition and Fair Transactions

In transactions involving its products, Sysmex shall conduct sales activities fairly and in accordance with high ethical standards.

4. Advertising and Promotion (Representations in Promotional Printed Materials, Advertisements, etc.)

Sysmex recognizes that printed advertising and promotional materials, advertisements in specialized journals and publications, websites for healthcare professionals, audiovisual promotional materials such as slides and videos, and other promotional assets created by Sysmex are important means of providing information about its products. In preparing and using such materials, Sysmex shall comply with the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Act and relevant voluntary industry codes and standards, and it shall ensure that all content is accurate, fair, and objective, based on scientific evidence.
Materials and other assets used in activities for providing sales information shall be limited to those that have undergone the prescribed review and approval process by the regulatory affairs divisions or other relevant departments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, regulatory requirements, and industry codes.

5. Prohibition of Slander and Defamation

Sysmex shall not slander or defame other companies or their products.

6. Prohibition of Unfair Comparison Tables

Any comparison tables of products provided by Sysmex shall be created based on objective data and shall not employ any unfair methods.

7. Provision of Services

Sysmex shall not provide medical institutions or healthcare professionals with benefits, labor, or other services that would violate the Fair Competition Code of the Medical Devices Industry, unless there are reasonable grounds for doing so.
