Sysmex Obtains ISO 30414 Certification for Human Capital Reporting

- Implementing Human Capital Management to Achieve Sustainable Increase in Corporate Value -

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Kaoru Asano) announces that it obtained ISO 304141 certification, the international guidelines for human capital reporting, on October 16, 2023. This is the first such certification that has been granted for the manufacturing industry in Asia.

The field of sustainability management has seen a reaffirmation, in recent years, of the significance of intangible assets, particularly human resources, and transparent disclosure of such assets has now become a requirement.

Overseas, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) mandated disclosure of human capital information for listed companies in 2020, and the draft European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) for disclosure of sustainability information in the European Union were released in 2023. In Japan, human capital reporting has become mandatory in annual securities reports from 2023 onward. Management and disclosure of human capital are therefore becoming increasingly important to companies.

Sysmex regards human capital as an important element for enhancing corporate sustainability and has made engagement a key indicator in its corporate strategy. In addition, it has identified “Realization of an Attractive Workplace” as one of its priority issues (materiality), and as well as expanding the portfolio of human resources that will drive growth toward realization of the Company’s long-term vision and implementing a common global human resource management system. Sysmex has worked to integrate and leverage its human capital data.

In accordance with the ISO 30414 international guidelines for human capital reporting, Sysmex has defined 58 metrics in 11 areas in line with its corporate strategy, and these were disclosed externally in the annual Sysmex Sustainability Data Book 2023 (Japanese version), to increase the accuracy, reliability, and transparency of this data. In order to enhance the quality of its human capital management, Sysmex will continuously gauge and improve linkage with its corporate strategy, productivity indices measuring the effect of investment in human capital, and employee experience data obtained from regular surveys of our corporate culture, leading to enhanced dialogue with stakeholders through internal and external disclosure.

At Sysmex, our long-term vision is “Together for a better healthcare journey.”2 To realize this vision, we have positioned human capital as a source of corporate value creation, and we will continue to move forward with building an organization that will create innovation by allowing diverse human resources to work comfortably and demonstrate their capabilities.
