Sysmex Employee Receives the “Best Student Presentation Award (Oral Presentation)” at the 146th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.

Daiki Hara, an employee of Sysmex received the Best Student Presentation Award (Oral Presentation) at the 146th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan for his presentation entitled “In Vivo Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutic Efficacy of Silicon Phthalocyanine Derivatives for Near-Infrared Photoimmunotherapy." This award is presented to general presentations at the Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan that are recognized as having noteworthy academic content and promising potential for future development.

Overview of the Award
Title of the award: Best Student Presentation Award (Oral Presentation)
Theme: In Vivo Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutic Efficacy of Silicon Phthalocyanine Derivatives for Near-Infrared Photoimmunotherapy
Recipient:  Daiki Hara
Date of the award:  April 15, 2026
Award details :  Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy is a novel treatment that selectively destroys cancer cells by accumulating an antibody drug conjugated with a photosensitizer in tumors and irradiating them with near-infrared light. In this study, we developed a therapeutic agent using a newly synthesized silicon phthalocyanine compound. Evaluation using a tumor-bearing mouse model showed that this agent exhibits higher tumor accumulation than conventional ones. In addition, nonspecific accumulation in normal organs such as the liver was suppressed, suggesting fewer side effects and the potential to achieve more effective near-infrared photoimmunotherapy.
Note:  This research was conducted by the researcher during his enrollment in a doctoral program for working professionals at Kansai Medical University.
