Description of the invention: The research and development of blood-based biomarkers for diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is being conducted worldwide owing to the emergence of disease-modifying therapies for AD. We have investigated a less invasive and simpler measurement method. Here, we presented that plasma Aβ levels measured using a fully automated immunoassay platform (HISCLTM series)* had a high performance for predicting brain Aβ status as defined by amyloid PET. This high performance was further confirmed by the fact that inclusion of the APOE ε4 status, a major risk factor for AD, did not significantly improve the performance of our assay. |
