Sysmex and Nissay Agree to Collaborate in Healthcare Field

- Creating New Initiatives Using Digital Solutions to Support Each Individual’s Healthcare Journey -

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Kaoru Asano) and Nippon Life Insurance Company (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; President: Satoshi Asahi; “Nissay”) announce that they have agreed to collaborate in the field of healthcare.
Going forward, the two companies will combine their respective assets and begin joint research into the development of disease risk assessment models for chronic diseases, cancer, and other conditions that utilize data held by Nissay.

In Japan, as the need for medical care increases due to advanced aging of society, prevention and early detection of disease is becoming increasingly important. Consequently, efforts to effectively utilize medical data, such as testing data and health insurance claims, are accelerating. In addition, incorporating data collected from home nursing and care settings, as well as life logs of diet, exercise, sleep, and others, is expected to lead to personalized solutions with behavioral change.

Sysmex is a leading company that delivers medical instruments, reagents and network solutions for clinical laboratory testing to more than 190 countries and regions worldwide. The company has a wealth of knowledge and know-how in diagnostics and interpreting testing data and can utilize this knowledge in combination with the company’s unique research parameters, primarily in the area of hematology. By using AI to analyze this testing data, Sysmex aims to realize a better healthcare journey through disease risk assessment and prevention by behavioral change.

Nissay is committed not only to providing financial protection (insurance) against unforeseen risks, but also to promoting health and supporting prevention. As part of these efforts, the company offers the “Nissay Health Promotion Consulting Service Wellness-Star☆” to corporations, insurers, and municipalities. This service provides comprehensive support—from visualizing health issues based on health checkup and claims data to planning and implementing health initiatives.

The two companies conducted feasibility studies on the development of disease risk assessment models for chronic diseases, cancer, and other conditions by integrating their accumulated technology, data, knowledge, and networks in the healthcare field. As these studies yielded favorable results, they have decided to commence joint research. Moving forward, they will define multiple specific research themes aimed at developing disease risk assessment models and jointly promote new initiatives using digital solutions in the healthcare field.

Based on their shared commitment to supporting people's health, the two companies will contribute to the realization of a new healthy society in Japan by utilizing medical data and life logs.
