Sysmex Completes Subsidiary's New Instrument Manufacturing Factory in Nagano, Japan, and Begins Product Shipments

- Strengthening the Group’s Instrument Production System to Ensure Stable Global Supply and Enhanced Productivity -

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Kaoru Asano) announces the completion of the relocation and expansion of its subsidiary Sysmex RA Co., Ltd. (HQ: Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture), a key factory within the Group responsible for the design and production of instruments that are essential for the efficiency and automation of clinical laboratory workflows, including sample transportation systems1 for IVD testing. Product shipments will commence in June 2025.

In recent years, increasing efficiency in clinical laboratory operations has become a pressing issue in developed countries due to reduced healthcare expenditures. Sysmex RA is a key factory within the Group, responsible for the comprehensive design and production of sample transportation system products for IVD testing. These products streamline testing workflows by automating and accelerating pre- and post- measurement processes in clinical laboratories, as well as sample transportation between analyzers.

The new factory has enhanced its capability to manufacture a wide variety of products to meet the increasingly diverse needs for efficient testing by expanding the introduction of mixed production systems. Additionally, logistics within the factory have been automated through the introduction of new production technologies such as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and automated multi-story warehouses. These improvements in production efficiency and the expansion of the production areas have doubled the Sysmex RA’s production capacity.

Furthermore, by expanding the implementation of production processes and IT systems common to the Sysmex Group and leveraging automated warehouses to increase raw materials inventories, the company has strengthened its BCP functions, enabling swift backup in the event of emergencies at other Group factories. With thorough environmental considerations, the company has obtained “ZEB2” certification for the new factory.

In addition, the office areas of the new factory are designed to improve work quality and accommodate diverse working styles. They feature open spaces for active communication, individual areas for focused work, and various IT infrastructure enhancements..

By strengthening the Group’s instrument production structure, Sysmex aims to ensure a stable medium- to long-term supply of high-quality, high-value-added products to medical institutions worldwide, contributing to improved productivity of clinical laboratories.

Terminology
1. Transportation system:

A transportation system is a system for the automated transport of samples among analyzers by connecting them together, to allow various testing operations. Transportation systems and their peripheral equipment make testing operations more efficient and less labor-intensive by automating tasks that were previously done manually and sorting samples to match the testing processes required.

2. Net Zero Energy Building (ZEB):
A ZEB is a building that aims to achieve a zero net annual primary energy consumption balance through the use of high-efficiency systems that significantly reduce energy consumption while maintaining the quality of the indoor environment, in combination with using energy from renewable sources (energy creation).
