Sysmex to Introduce New Globally Consistent Job-Based HR Management System with the Aim of Realizing Sustainable Growth

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) will introduce a globally consistent job-based HR management system in April 2020 for the Company’s managers, before deploying the system gradually around the world. The objectives are to recruit and cultivate the diverse human resources that will enable the Company to win out in global competition, and to accelerate the cultivation of a corporate culture that realizes an attractive workplace. We aim to boost external competitiveness in the HR market and achieve sustainable corporate growth by maximizing individual and organizational productivity.

The “Sysmex Way,” Sysmex Group’s corporate philosophy, outlines core behaviors toward employees thus: “We honor diversity, respect the individuality of each employee, and provide them with a workplace where they can realize their full potential. We value the spirit of independence and challenge, provide employees with opportunities for self-fulfillment and growth, and reward them for their accomplishments.” The Company promotes HR management on this basis.

Recent years have been characterized by the globalization of economic activity and the advancement of digital technologies. Also, the external environment has changed rapidly. For example, working-age populations have been declining in developed countries, as well as in some emerging and developing countries. Against this backdrop, companies from other industries have entered the healthcare field, leading to increasingly stringent competition from different entities than in the past.

Meanwhile, Sysmex’s business has grown more global and its portfolio has expanded rapidly. Accordingly, recruiting, cultivating, and continuing to provide an attractive workplace for personnel with advanced specialties and next-generation leaders have become an increasingly important issue. To reinforce the Company’s external competitiveness, Sysmex has identified the “realization of an attractive workplace” as a priority issue (materiality item). We strive for a corporate culture in which diverse personnel around the world have shared values and confidently make the most of their capabilities.

To date, we have maintained a focus on HR development based on long-term employment. Upholding this stance, we will aim to provide the foundation for diverse human resources to realize their talents and sustain high levels of growth. Reforming our current function-based HR system, under which employees are graded according to various capabilities, we will introduce a new job-based personnel system in which job grades are determined by role and job content. We will launch the system in April 2020 and gradually roll it out globally.

In addition to Japan, for all key positions throughout the Sysmex Group we will develop grading, evaluation, and HR development systems based on consistent HR policies, realizing globally consistent HR management. We will also transition to an externally competitive remuneration system in the aim of recruiting and cultivating excellent human resources that can be active globally, helping us achieve sustainable corporate growth.

Along with introducing the new system, Sysmex will adopt a cloud-based integrated HR management system to centrally manage its HR information. We aim to enhance the speed and quality of management decision-making in such areas as optimizing our allocation of resources and making HR operations more efficient. We will strive to optimally allocate and cultivate human resources to make the most of each employee’s personality and talents. As a result, we intend to maximize the executional capabilities needed to accelerate sustainable growth in the Sysmex Group.

Going forward, the Sysmex Group will continue working to provide an environment to leverage the talents of human resources who can help diversify its businesses and technologies and augment management sophistication. As a result, we aim to provide a workplace where globally competitive and highly individual human resources can maximize their talents and remain a company of choice for highly competitive employees.
