Sysmex Donation to Help Fund Construction of Local University Hall

“Sysmex Hall” to Open in Hall of Kobe University School of Medicine

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Hisashi Ietsugu) announces its decision to donate funds toward the construction of a hall at the Kobe University School of Medicine. This donation is in line with the Company’s efforts to invigorate the educational and research activities of local universities.

Helping to invigorate educational and research activities at local universities is an ongoing theme at Sysmex. In addition to conducting joint research with Kobe University involving cancer and diabetes, the Company also works with the university on joint research on diagnostic systems related to infectious diseases as part of the Hyogo COE Program Promotion Project*. Since 2004, Sysmex also has contributed funds to a course at the Kobe University School of Medicine entitled “Assessment of Clinical Testing.”

For its part, Kobe University is working aggressively to build globally competitive research capabilities and to expand its curriculum and post-graduate research programs. The decision to build a hall adjacent to its School of Medicine is one aspect of Kobe University’s efforts to enhance its educational and research environment. This facility will house a childcare center for students and faculty members, and a spacious hall to host extension courses and public lectures for Kobe residents, as well as international symposia.

Sysmex supports the establishment of this facility and is pleased to donate funds toward it. The university will name one part of the facility Sysmex Hall in appreciation of the Company’s funding support.

Going forward, Sysmex will continue in its efforts to enhance its relationship with the Kobe community and to invigorate local universities’ educational and research activities as part of its contribution to the development of healthcare.
