Sheath flow DC detection method

The electrical resistance method enables a normal pulse to be obtained when a blood cell passes through the center of the aperture, but if blood cells pass through the edge of the aperture or if multiple blood cells pass through simultaneously an abnormal pulse is received, preventing the size and number of blood cells from being measured accurately.
In the 1980s, Sysmex introduced a sheath flow system to the E series to overcome this technological hurdle. In the sheath flow DC detection method, blood cells enclosed by a front sheath liquid pass through the center of the aperture one by one in line and at a certain interval.

Therefore, an accurate pulse signal enables the number of blood cells to be measured.
