Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) is launching the semi-automated urine chemistry analyzer UC-1000, a new product in the field of urine qualitative analysis, along with its specific reagents, the MEDITAPE UC-10S and MEDITAPE UC-12S urine chemistry test papers, in overseas markets. This launch is based on a business alliance with EIKEN CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (HQ: Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President & CEO: Morifumi Wada).
Urinalysis testing is divided into urine chemistry, a primary test employing urine test strips, and urine sediment analysis, secondary testing to provide a detailed analysis of specimens looking for cells and formed elements in the urine. Urine qualitative analysis can play a role in diagnosis and obtain a wide variety of information simply by placing test papers in urine. For these reasons, this type of analysis is widely used in testing performed in emerging markets and developed countries alike, and from clinics to large hospitals.
For many years in the field of urine sediment testing, clinical laboratory technologists used to observe all specimens by using microscopes (microscope testing). In 1995, Sysmex was the first to realize the automated quantitative analysis of formed elements in urine by using the flow cytometry method. The Company has contributed significantly to the efficiency and standardization of urine sediment analysis. Furthermore, in January 2016 Sysmex launched in overseas markets the fully automated urine chemistry analyzer UC-3500, the first urine qualitative analyzer sold under the Sysmex brand.
Sysmex launches in overseas markets the semi-automated urine chemistry analyzer UC-1000, a compact model in the field of urine qualitative analysis, along with its specific reagents, the MEDITAPE UC-10S and MEDITAPE UC-12S urine chemistry test papers.
Despite its compact A4 size, the UC-1000 offers high detection capability and convenient operability on a par with Sysmex’s high-end UC-3500. The UC-1000 can be deployed to meet a wide range of needs, not only as an instrument at small and medium-sized healthcare facilities, but also as a backup instrument at facilities that already employ the UC-3500 and for urgent testing.
In addition to serving it toward the automation of testing in emerging markets whose infrastructure development is progressing in tandem with economic development, the UC-1000 will contribute to the advancement of healthcare by providing high-value testing.
By continuing to provide high-value-added testing in the urinalysis field, Sysmex aims to establish a leading global position in this field of testing.
