Sysmex Reinforces Sales and Support Structure in Turkey

- Establishes Local Subsidiary to Expand Business in Growing Market -

Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) announces the establishment of a subsidiary in Turkey. The aim of forming this company is to further reinforce Sysmex’s sales and support structure by providing direct sales and customer service in Turkey.

Turkey’s healthcare demand has grown in recent years, due to an expanding population, rising living standards and aging population. Furthermore, the country’s economy continues to grow at a steady pace. However, Turkey’s level of healthcare spending as a percentage of GDP is among the lowest in the 34 OECD countries. Projects at the national level are underway to raise the quality and efficiency of healthcare and undertake initiatives to ensure the equitable provision of healthcare services. Accordingly, demand is expected to increase going forward.

Sysmex has been operating in Turkey via a sales network of alliances formed with such companies as Roche Diagnostics and Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, conducting sales and support activities through this network in its mainstay hematology segment, as well as the segment of urinalysis and hemostasis.
However, as the size of Sysmex’s customers has increased, including the Public Hospital Union—a joint purchasing organization of public-sector hospitals—and private laboratory groups, the Company faces a growing need to reinforce long-term stable relationships with customers, as well as to enhance proposal-making capabilities.

To address these needs, the Company has established Sysmex Turkey Diagnostik Sistemleri Ltd. Sti. The new subsidiary is scheduled to commence operations in earnest in April 2014.
Employing a direct sales structure, Sysmex Turkey will strengthen the Company’s solutions proposals, launch new products in the laboratory testing field, and plan developments in the life sciences field—a new area of endeavor for Sysmex. Through initiatives such as these, Sysmex aims to augment its sales and support structure in Turkey.

Going forward, Sysmex aims to reinforce its sales and support structure and provide Sysmex-specific support services to contribute to the advancement of healthcare in emerging markets.
