Sysmex Enters Business Alliance Agreement with EIKEN CHEMICAL CO., LTD., Involving the Urine Chemistry Testing Business in Overseas Markets
Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) has entered a business alliance with EIKEN CHEMICAL CO., LTD. (HQ: Taito-ku, Tokyo, Japan; President & CEO: Morifumi Wada) involving the urine chemistry testing business in overseas markets. Going forward, the two companies aim to collaborate to become frontrunners in the urinalysis field.
Urinalysis testing is divided into urine chemistry, a primary test employing urine test strips, and urine sediment analysis, secondary testing to provide a detailed analysis of specimens looking for cells and formed elements in the urine.
EIKEN CHEMICAL has abundant experience and possesses proprietary technologies in the field of urine chemistry testing (primary screening). Its performance in the urinalysis field is highly regarded in Japan. Sysmex, meanwhile, in 1995 was the first to realize the automated quantitative analysis of formed elements in urine, using the flow cytometry method. We currently market globally the UF-Series of fully automated analyzers of formed elements in urine, and have a leading share of the global market in the field of urine sediment analysis (secondary screening)*.
Through this business alliance, EIKEN CHEMICAL will provide Sysmex with its urine chemistry testing technologies and products for introduction in overseas markets. The product will be introduced under the Sysmex brand using the Company’s global sales and after-sales networks. By offering its own analyzers of formed elements in urine alongside the urine chemistry analyzers resulting from this business alliance, Sysmex will be able to flexibly meet customers’ needs for the entire range of urinalysis testing, including primary and secondary screening, thereby contributing to testing efficiency.
By continuing to provide high value-added testing in the urinalysis field going forward, Sysmex aims to establish a leading global position in this field of testing.
