  The theme of this marathon, “Thanks and Friendship,” is meant to express the gratitude of the people in the Kobe area to everyone who assisted in the reconstruction of the region following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The Sysmex Group, which was founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Hyogo Prefecture, shares this sense of gratitude and is proud to continue our special sponsorship of the event.

  The Sysmex Group has for many years been helping people to remain healthy through our dedication to the advancement of healthcare in accordance with the Group’s philosophy, which we call the “Sysmex Way.” In addition to our normal business, as a Kobe company Sysmex strives to contribute to our community by providing support to the Kobe Medical Industry Development Project and local universities. Sysmex is deeply involved in promoting health and sports through our healthcare development business.

  On November 20, 2011, upwards of 20,000 runners took to the streets of Kobe for Kobe Marathon 2011, while over 500,000 spectators lined the course to cheer them on. The runners experienced a variety of feelings as they proceeded toward their goal through the port town of Kobe, which arose from the destruction caused by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Through this year’s Kobe Marathon, Sysmex will again voice our strong encouragement of efforts to rebuild.

  In addition to providing the bib numbers to be worn by the approximately 20,000 runners, we will exhibit at the Kobe Marathon EXPO and support the Sysmex employees volunteering their time to assist at the event.

  Sysmex will strive to continue to grow as a pioneering “frontrunner” in healthcare. Our goal is to help create a healthier and more prosperous society through advances in medical treatment.
