Technopark Festa 2010

Sysmex held Technopark Festa 2010, a local socialization event, in the Technopark R&D Center on November 7. Technopark Festa aims to strengthen relationships with local residents by inviting them to the Technopark so they can gain a better understanding of Sysmex. This year marked the third Technopark Festa.

Sysmex held seminars on cancer and infectious diseases, gave garden tours and offered a Japanese drum performance to more than 600 people invited from the local community.

Sponsoring Kobe Luminarie

Sysmex is a regular sponsor of Kobe Luminarie, an annual illumination event that originated as a memorial for the victims of the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in the hopes of reconstructing/restoring the city of Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture.

Sysmex is a regular sponsor of the “Evening of Poetry Reading and Music” event, where actress Keiko Takeshita recites poems by residents on the themes of “dreams,” “hope,” and “love.”

Sysmex sponsors Kobe Biennale, a celebration of art culture that aims to further advance art culture and revitalize the city of Kobe.

The program invites individuals and businesses to support the zoo by sponsoring a specific species of animal at the institution. We elected to support the giant pandas, among the most popular of the zoo’s inhabitants.

Environmental Activities Conducted by Individual Offices in Japan

At Sysmex's domestic offices, employees actively clean roads and community parks in their neighborhoods. Sysmex RA, one of our group companies, holds "Eco Walk," an event in which participants walk around the company premises and pick up garbage, every year. In fiscal year 2010, "Eco Walk" event on October 16, 2010 was participated in by employees and their families, totaling 20 persons.

The Technopark R&D Center participated in the "CO2 Reduction Light-Down Campaign," a national event held on the day of the summer solstice for promoting ways to reduce global warming. On June 22, 2010, Sysmex turned off its lighting systems from 20:00 to 22:00.

Eco Team’s Environmental Preservation Activities

An Eco Team formed by Sysmex employees who are interested in environmental preservation activities has been conducting various activities since fiscal 2008.

In fiscal 2010, the Eco Team carried out a cleaning operation at Suma Beach in Hyogo Prefecture and an afforestation project for Mt. Rokko, also in Hyogo. These activities were also participated by the family members of employees.

Supporting Local High School Students in the U.S.A.

Sysmex America is an active member of the “Aim High: Urban Mentoring Initiative,” a program organized by the non-profit organization Companies That Care, which was established to inspire employers to encourage volunteer activities among their employees.

Sysmex America’s employees serve as advisors to students at local high schools and continue to support them financially.

Every year Sysmex America participates in the highway cleaning campaign and cleans the highways near the company. In fiscal 2010, seven members of Sysmex America participated in the event.

Donation to the "Die Arche" Children Support Organization in Germany

In fiscal 2010, Sysmex Germany held a lottery event to raise funds for Christmas gifts for needy children, and donated proceeds totaling 5,000 euro to Die Arche, an organization that helps children receive education and live better lives.

An increased number of schools in Germany have been using PCs and the Internet in classroom education in recent years. Sysmex Europe in Germany initiated a donation project dubbed "Sysmex Helps Children." Sysmex Europe donates used company PCs as well as used PCs collected from employees and affiliated companies to local schools.

“Greener Sysmex” Activities

Group companies in eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region have formed a team that energetically conducts environmental preservation and local social contribution activities with the slogan of “Greener Sysmex”.

In fiscal 2010, the team cooperated in a charity event for the protection of endangered specifies in Singapore, New Zealand and Thailand. In the Philippines, it conducted afforestation activities.
