Kazuto Yamashita, an Employee of Sysmex, Received The ‘Encouragement Award (Clinical Research)’ at the 41st Congress of Japan Society for Dementia Research jointly hosted with the 37th Congress of Japanese Psychogeriatric Society for his presentation “Plasma Aβ assay measured using a fully automated immunoassay platform predicts the amyloid PET status "

Award Details
Title of the presentation: Plasma Aβ assay measured using a fully automated immunoassay platform predicts the amyloid PET status
Winner: Kazuto Yamashita
Date of the award: November 27, 2022
Description of the invention: The research and development of blood-based biomarkers for diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is being conducted worldwide owing to the emergence of disease-modifying therapies for AD. We have investigated a less invasive and simpler measurement method. Here, we presented that plasma Aβ levels measured using a fully automated immunoassay platform (HISCLTM series) had a high performance for predicting brain Aβ status as defined by amyloid PET. This high performance was further confirmed by the fact that inclusion of the APOE ε4 status, a major risk factor for AD, did not significantly improve the performance of our assay.
Note: Joint presentation by Sysmex Corporation, Eisai Co., Ltd., and Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Hospital and Institute of Gerontology.
Terminology: * HISCLTM-5000, HISCLTM-800 (Sysmex Corporation)
