| This is a painless and injury-free technology of percutaneous collection of interstitial fluid, which is similar to blood plasma in composition, instead of drawing blood. Interstitial fluid is exuded from capillary vessels and fills the spaces between cells. The skin has an outer barrier layer called the stratum corneum, which normally prevents this liquid from coming out of the body. This technology weakens the barrier function of the skin surface without damaging it, enables accelerated painless extraction of the interstitial fluid, and makes measurements on the fluid with a highly sensitive sensor. Sysmex aims at realizing a new measuring platform, which incorporates this technology for use in the management of chronic diseases that require frequent measurements. |
