Having declared a "Focus on Asia" as one of the basic strategies for its Mid-term Management Plan, Sysmex is making progress in the expansion of product lines in the clinical chemistry and immunochemistry fields and the building of a reagent supply system, as well as its hematology business, which has steadily increased its market penetration, with the aim of becoming the leading company in Asia's diagnostics field.
By focusing our attention on China, which is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, we have established the Diagnostic Reagent Development Center in China within Sysmex Wuxi Co, Ltd., in a move to prepare for entry into the immunochemistry market there.
On the back of rapid economic growth, the Chinese government is taking the initiative in developing its healthcare environment, and as such, the Chinese healthcare market offers high growth potential. One disease area where expectations are increasing for early detection and treatment is hepatitis, the incidence of which is high within the country. In order to expedite the development of reagents which meet the specific demands of this growing market and requests from local governments, we will utilize this new development center, with the first project being the development of immunochemistry reagents, such as hepatitis markers and cancer markers. We are also planning to conduct joint research with local university hospitals and other medical institutions to facilitate clinical evalution in China, thereby contributing to the realization of quality healthcare services within the country.
As the leading player in the diagnostics field in Asia, Sysmex will aim to strengthen its position and presence in Asia by expanding product lines and building up its business structure.
