    Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Hisashi Ietsugu) announced today its decision to make Sysmex India Pvt. Ltd., an Indian joint venture company with its local distributor Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary by increasing the Sysmex Group’s stake in the Indian subsidiary from 75% to 100%, in a bid to better prepare itself for the opportunities presenting themselves in the rapidly growing Indian market. Sysmex India is currently responsible for reagent production and academic support in that country.

    The Sysmex Group and Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd. have signed an agreement to establish a new joint venture company Sysmex Transasia Services Pvt. Ltd. with a view to promote the alliance between the two under a reinforced cooperative framework. This company will promote scientific services to Indian customers such as scientific seminars etc.

    With a population of over one billion, India is aggressively expanding its healthcare infrastructure and improving the quality of its healthcare services to develop healthcare environments. In India’s diagnostics field, the use of analyzers and reagents is spreading rapidly, and, amid the need to further improve quality of testing, the demand for high-end technology based products is growing.

    Since Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd. was chosen as a Sysmex distributor in 1993, the two companies have joined hands to expand sales and support networks in India by way of development of business foundations there, and enhance our presence through promotion of the Sysmex brand. Since that time, in 1998, a joint venture with Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd. was established in Mumbai to manufacture instruments, reagents and to launch scientific services catered to the specific demands of the host community, such as scientific seminars. In 2006, the Sysmex Group raised its ownership in the joint venture company from 51% to 75% and renamed the joint venture company as ‘Sysmex India Pvt. Ltd.’, and reagent production began in 2007 (Establishment of a reagent factory at Baddi).
　
    Now that Sysmex India Pvt. Ltd. has become a wholly-owned subsidiary, we reinforce our reagent production in the Baddi factory to ensure stable supply of high quality reagents and to increase production efficiency in order to meet the increasing demand for diagnostic reagents. Going forward, we plan to supplying reagents to neighboring countries from Sysmex India and marketing products in India that are not covered by the exclusive distribution contract with Transasia Bio-Medicals Ltd..
    Sysmex and Transasia remain committed to work together in the Indian market with Sysmex contributing its product portfolio, localized reagent production and technical knowledge and with Transasia providing its network for selling, marketing and customer service.
