How do you carry out R&D operations in Japan? | |

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of our foundation, we established Technopark, our new core R&D base, based on the concept of "Creation of 'Knowledge' and Its Inheritance." Sysmex products combine technologies from many different fields, including electronics, machinery, biology, chemistry, and information processing.
In June 2004, we opened Sysmex BMA Laboratories at the Business Support Center for Biomedical Research Activities (BMA) on Port Island Second Stage, a man-made island off the coast of Kobe. We are conducting exploratory research in advanced areas of medicine to accelerate the translation of R&D achievements into commercial applications, with a focus on technology for simultaneous multiparameter analysis of proteins.
We invest an average of about 10% of net sales into R&D on a yearly basis.

How do you carry out R&D overseas? | |
|
In addition to a research and development base in Europe, we have software development subsidiaries in New Zealand where we develop products suited to local healthcare needs.

What projects are you working on at the Central Research Laboratories? | |
|
We are working to establish diagnostic methods for cancer, chronic diseases and other targets. We have formed an organization for drawing up plans for individual analyses including cell analysis, protein analysis, genetic analysis and biological analysis. By searching for leading-edge technologies in each category, the division aims to establish new diagnostic concepts, clinical testing applications and technology platforms. Where are your production facilities? | |
|
The Sysmex Group has two production bases in Japan and seven outside of Japan. Significant elements of instrument production is carried out at the Kakogawa Factory in Hyogo, Japan, which supplies reliable clinical testing devices to the global market.
Reagent production is performed by International Reagents Corporation at their Ono and Seishin Factories, both in Hyogo, Japan, as well as in the US, Brazil, Germany, China (Jinan, Wuxi), India, and Singapore. Our policy is to base our reagent factories close to consumers to ensure stable production and supply.
