Medicaroid Launches the SOT-100 Vercia, Operating Table with the Function to Move Patients Widely

Medicaroid Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Yasuhiko Hashimoto; hereinafter, "Medicaroid"), a joint venture between Sysmex Corporation (HQ: Kobe, Japan; Chairman and CEO: Hisashi Ietsugu) and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (HQ: Kobe, Japan; President: Yoshinori Kanehana), has launched the operating table SOT-100 Vercia. This operating table realizes the function to move a patient over a wide range, which is a demanded ability in hybrid operations.

Recently, minimally invasive surgical operation is expected to become more patient-friendly. With this background, catheterization procedure in X-ray image guided surgery, one of the minimally invasive surgeries, is rapidly diffusing. Also, hybrid operation, in which catheterization procedure and surgical operation are used to minimize the incisional wound and to shorten the surgical time, is starting to generate outcomes.
Hybrid operation requires an operating room with X-ray fluoroscopic device (referred to as hybrid operating room). In such room, a patient needs to be in an appropriate position and posture for taking X-ray images and to be moved to the position where a physician can easily perform a surgery.

As our first product, Medicaroid is introducing the operating table SOT-100 Vercia, which can be moved easily and rapidly to the optimal position and posture in hybrid operating room.
Users can freely set position and posture of the operating table in the operating room, store multiple positional data (position for administration of anesthetics, surgical operation, X-ray fluoroscopy, etc.) in memory, and move the table to the position exactly and quickly.
The latest robotic technology, the core technology of Medicaroid, is applied to the driving part to move patients smoothly to the position and posture. The driving part can be housed in the base portion of the operating table to be out of the way of operational staff. Table top is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), which X-ray can pass through, so users can take X-ray images with the patients on the table.

Medicaroid will contribute to the efficient use of hybrid operation by offering SOT-100 Vercia. We also apply this operating table to general surgeries, and seek to coordinate it with our future product, the robot assisted surgery system.

Medicaroid aims to contribute to the enriched society where all patients, patients’ family and healthcare professionals can lead their lives with peace of mind.
